Exploring garden history through maps & plans

Botanic Garden

Starting in the 16th century with colourful Tudor maps, Dr Twigs Way will show you how to identify knot gardens, fountains and walks. Then using estate maps discover the delightful accuracy of 18th century county cartographers. The session will then culminate in explanations of the wealth of detail available in the late Victorian and Edwardian Ordnance Survey and a brief look at aerial photography.
