The attack on knowledge

Tue 25 March 2014

Magdalene College

Entitlement to knowledge - a privilege or a right? What makes knowledge powerful? Is this the knowledge of a powerful elite or a meritocratic opening of access, for all, to powerful knowledge?

We have invited Professor Michael Young of the Institute of Education, University of London, to share his research and revive the debate on the 'powerful knowledge' as a means to rejuvenating curriculum thinking in England. He will sharpen the issues in this debate and will take us through an area fraught with political and educational controversy - arguing trenchantly for powerful knowledge as an entitlement of all children regardless of their background, motivation or experience.

Join us and have your say as we attempt to find a way through the political quagmire of this debate.
