The environmental impacts of oil palm: good crop/bad crop?

Thu 2 February 2017

David Attenborough Building

Ed Turner, from the University Museum of Zoology, Cambridge, will talk about
some of the conservation issues associated with oil palm expansion in the
tropics as well as the importance of oil palm as a very high-yielding crop.
Using findings from his research in Sumatra and Borneo he will discuss ways
that oil palm can be managed to benefit biodiversity with no or little cost to yield.
The first talk in the spring programme of the Cambridge Natural History Society.

Cost: Non-members £2; reduced rates for members of CNHS, Anglia Ruskin Wildlife Society, Cambridge University Nature Society, students and those under 18.
