An evening of poetry and music with Roger Garfitt and Gareth Rees-Roberts

In this evening of poetry and music, acclaimed poet and writer Roger Garfitt is joined by Gareth Rees-Roberts, former winner of the Julian Bream Prize and one of Britain’s most sought-after classical guitarists.
The programme will being with a performance of Garfitt’s Border Songs, a sequence of lyrics celebrating and questioning different strands in British history. It will be read with musical accompaniments and interludes, including Scottish, Irish and Welsh tunes and two pieces by Dowland.
The second sequence is From the Ridge, a journey through landscapes of love and loss, inspired by the songs of the Argentinian folksinger, Atahualpa Yupanqui. Gareth will be playing five pieces sent over from Buenos Aires especially for this performance.
Admission is free and there will be a retiring collection.
