Cows, bowers and towers

Mon 7 May 2012 - Sat 19 May 2012

The Michaelhouse Centre

Three Cambridge artists have come together for an exhibition to celebrate the local spaces of the city they live and work in. Theirs is a very gentle, quiet, almost surreal city....

Maureen Mace
Maureen paints the wide open spaces, the architecture and the people of Cambridge underneath a rich blue sky that accompanies the moon to produce whimsical, very detailed, imaginative images of cows, bowers and towers.

Alison Litherland
Alison's cows don't have a conventional background of green fields and trees, but are surrounded by (and seem somewhat puzzled by) loosely painted colour. Their rather disconcerting titles add to the sense of dislocation

Neil Warmsley
Neil finds a sense of stillness within the city, depicting its trees and green spaces His paintings are both otherworldly and instantly recognisable. They show places to sit, read and contemplate.
