Creating power from plants

Science on Sundays at Cambridge University Botanic Garden.

Sun 25 June 2017

Cambridge University Botanic Garden

Over the next six months, the talks will explore fascinating plant science topics from how plants know the calendar, to how their roots adapt to their world without having a nervous system and how plants can be used as a renewable source of energy.

Professor Chris Howe from the Department of Biochemistry delivers the fourth talk 'Creating power from plants' in this series. There is a lot of interest in plants and algae as a renewable source of energy. Most work concentrates on using them to produce fuel molecules such as bioethanol or biodiesel. This talk will look at how we can produce electricity directly from algae and plants.

Join Professor Chris Howe, Department of Biochemistry, in the Botanic Garden for this Science on Sunday talk 25 June 2017, 11am and 2pm.

Cost: Free event included in Normal Garden Admission. Friends enter free.
