Join the Cambridge University Musical Society Symphony Orchestra for an evening of Russian music, conducted by John Tothill, the Cambridge University Musical Society 2016-17 Conducting Scholar. Naomi Woo, the winner of the CUMS 2016 Concerto Competition, is the soloist in Prokofiev's highly virtuosic Second Piano Concerto. This is followed by Tchaikovsky's supercharged Fourth Symphony, an emotional and at times anguished work in which the composer explores his own fate; Tchaikovsky wrote that 'there is not a single line in my symphony which I have not felt deeply, and which does not echo true and sincere emotions'.
