Café Sci Cambridge: The Cosmic Revolutionary's Handbook
Please note: this event has been CANCELLED
Wed 22 April 2020
Espresso Library
Modern science began with a revolution, and many think it's time for another. As a cosmologist, today's speaker hears from people who want to overthrow the 'illogical' and 'unscientific' edifice of the Big Bang theory. However, their revolution isn't quite working out.
Author Luke Barnes is here to help. If you have a better theory than the Big Bang, he'll help you make it battle-ready. He'll explain why the scientific enterprise works the way it does, and how you can make science’s foibles work in your favour. He'll dissect theories of the universe that science left behind, so you can learn from those that bowed out with dignity and those that went down swinging. Most importantly, he'll lay out the hurdles that your theory has to jump, the key facts about the universe as a whole that are non-negotiable.
If you're not planning a cosmic revolution, Luke will take you on a unique tour behind the scenes of modern science, and give you a raw and comprehensive glimpse at our amazing universe.
