A V Hill Lecture - Systems level in vivo modelling of vertebrate physiology and pharmacology

Mon 27 February 2017

Department of Chemistry

The A V Hill Lecture by Professor Calum A MacRae, Chief of Cardiology, Harvard Medical School, USA.

The third talk in a series of lectures organised by the Cambridge Philosophical Society in the Lent Term 2017.

Abstract: The pace of information accrual in modern biology now exceeds our ability to test hypotheses effectively in representative experimental models. Similarly, in silico models remain highly under-determined. We will argue that new scalable approaches to empiric physiologic experimentation are required, demonstrate the utility of one highly scalable model, the zebrafish, D. rerio, and outline potential community strategies for the physiological sciences to move toward generalizable inferences.
