The Humanitarian Centre is a Cambridge-based network for international relief and development. This event is the launch of a year of activities on ICT for Development (ICT4D) in Cambridge, which the Humanitarian Centre is running in partnership with ARM.
ICTs are creating innovative ways to alleviate global poverty and inequality. This event will explore the transformative power ICTs are having on international development projects; in creating new partnerships, and improving participation levels, education, governance and more.
Keynote speaker David Edelstein is the Director of the Grameen Technology Center and the Vice President of Technology Programs at Grameen Foundation. As the leader of Grameen Foundation's work in technology, he guides programs which create innovative and sustainable approaches to employ technology for the benefit of the world's poor.
There will also be quick-fire presentations from Aptivate, Cambridge University Centre for Commonwealth Education and Centre for Governance and Human Rights, Camfed, FrontlineSMS and Iceni Mobile.
