17th century London and Venice were veritable melting pots for artistic talent, scandal and creative thinkers alike. Early music champions soprano Julia Doyle and Matthew Wadsworth on lute and theorbo present a programme of Renaissance fused art of song and poetry, moving to the soul today as it was 400 years ago. It features passions and torments of life in songs by Dowland and Purcell alongside exquisite masterpieces of several most daring composers of the time.
