Improving plants: achieving food sustainability in a changing environment

Wed 16 October 2019

Wellcome Genome Campus Conference Centre

Join us to explore how plant science and new technologies can help feed a growing population in the face of a rapidly changing climate.

Plant science is at the centre of some of the most pressing global challenges we currently face: it provides the research required to produce healthier foods, adapt to and tackle climate change, protect biodiversity, and achieve this through the sustainable intensification of agriculture.

In this lively discussion with plant scientists we will explore the challenges modern agriculture faces in times of climate change. Come and find out about traditional and new plant breeding strategies and technologies (including genetic modification) and discover their advantages and risks.

This public event is part of the Plant Genomes in a Changing Environment conference (16-18 October), bringing plant scientists together at the Wellcome Genome Campus.
