More than just dates: signs and symbols in history: Will Riddington
Sat 8 November 2014
History, Faculty of
History is about more than just dates and long-dead kings and queens. Many historians are more interested in what we call "symbols", things that have a special meaning to a particular group of people. These symbols are used by people to tell stories about the way things were, the way things are and the way things should be. This workshop will examine the ways in which symbols have been used throughout history (including the tea bag!), and what their use can tell us about both the past and present.
Participants will also get the chance to devise their own movement and symbols to go with it.
