In his talk, Canadian historian, Lyle Dick will be discussing how the explorer Robert Peary, in the absence of evidence, managed to emerge as the victor in the Race to the North Pole in 1909-1910.

Lyle Dick is the author of many publications in Canadian, American and Arctic history, including the books Muskox Land (winner, Harold Adams Innis Prize, 2003) and Farmers "Making Good" (co-winner, Clio Prize, 1990). Between 2011-2013 he served as President of the Canadian Historical Association.
