Cambridge alumnus and celebrated cellist and conductor David Watkin directs the Cambridge University Chamber Orchestra in an exciting and varied programme.
"David Watkin brings to conducting decades of music making at the highest level; the breadth of his musical background – academic and practical, ‘early’ and modern, vocal and instrumental, symphonic and chamber – gives him a unique perspective. He has received guidance from some of the leading conductors of the age and conducted groups including the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Swedish Baroque Orchestra, the Academy of Ancient Music, the Manchester Consort and the Meadows Chamber Orchestra."
Cambridge University Chamber Orchestra is Cambridge’s flagship orchestra. CUCO attracts the University’s very best musical talent, works exclusively with distinguished professional conductors, and achieves the highest possible standards. Recent highlights have included a recording of Mozart and Haydn with Sir Roger Norrington, Wagner with Sir Mark Elder and a live Radio 3 broadcast with King’s College Chapel Choir conducted by Stephen Cleobury.
