SCHOOLS AND COUNCILS OF THE SCHOOLS

SCHOOL OF CLINICAL MEDICINE

Academic head.

1. The Regius Professor of Physic shall be the Head of the School.

Membership.

2. The Council of the School of Clinical Medicine shall consist of the following members:

  1. (a)the Regius Professor of Physic, who shall be Chair;
  2. (b)the Head of each of the Departments in the Faculty of Clinical Medicine;
  3. (c)the Head of each Institute/Unit recognized by the Council of the School within the School of Clinical Medicine;
  4. (d)the Chair of the Faculty Board of Clinical Medicine;
  5. (e)the Deputy Head of the School of Clinical Medicine;
  6. (f)the Director of Medical Education in the Clinical School;
  7. (g)the Director of Organizational Affairs in the Clinical School;
  8. (h)the Director of Graduate Education in the Clinical School;
  9. (i)the Head of the School of the Biological Sciences;
  10. (j)the Head of the Department of Pathology;
  11. (k)a person appointed by the Board of the Eastern Academic Health Science Network;
  12. (l)a person appointed by the Board of Cambridge University Health Partners;
  13. (m)the members in class (f) of the Faculty Board of Clinical Medicine.

3. The following shall have the right of attendance at the Council of the School of Clinical Medicine:

  1. (a)the Chief Executive of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust;
  2. (b)the Chief Executive of Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust;
  3. (c)the Chief Executive of Cambridge and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust;
  4. (d)a representative of the MRC Centre or the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge.
Meetings and quorum.

4. The Council of the School shall meet at least once in each academical year. No business shall be transacted at any meeting unless five members in classes (a)–(i) at least are present.

Duties and powers.

5. The Council of the School shall perform such duties as are specified in Statute A V 8(a)–(c) and such other duties as may be delegated to them by the General Board under Statute A V 8(d).

Secretary of the School

Appointments.

1. Appointments and reappointments to the University office of Secretary of the Clinical School shall be made by an Appointments Committee consisting of the following persons:

  1. (a)the Vice-Chancellor (or a duly appointed deputy) as Chair;
  2. (b)the Regius Professor of Physic;
  3. (c)three persons appointed by the Faculty Board of Clinical Medicine;
  4. (d)two persons appointed by the General Board.
Duties.

2. The Secretary shall act as Secretary of the Council of the School of Clinical Medicine, and of Committees of the Council of the School, and shall perform such other duties as may be determined from time to time by the Council of the School with the approval of the General Board.
