LMB Cambridge Scholarships
for students from overseas and from the European Union (excluding the UK)
- in collaboration with the Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge
- up to five full-cost scholarships offered annually for students from the European Union
- for courses of research leading to the degree of PhD
- in Molecular Biology
Eligibility:
- applicants from the European Union are reminded to apply for Public Fees awards
Value of Scholarships:
The scholarships will normally cover:
- the University Composition Fee at the appropriate rate
- approved College fees
- a maintenance allowance sufficient for a single student (at Research Council rates)
- a discretionary contribution towards an economy airfare
* or up to a full maintenance allowance, in the case of students from the EU
Application:
The application procedure is twofold:
In the first instance, candidates should:
- apply to LMB (www2.mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk/projects/projects.html) by nominating up to four possible PhD supervisors and projects from the list of supervisors and projects as published by the Laboratory
- provide a personal statement of no more than one page for each proposed supervisor as to why he/she wishes to work in a chosen area of research and their reasons for nominating that supervisor
- submit two copies of an up-to-date curriculum vitae and the names and addresses (including email address if available) of two referees, who have agreed to write on their behalf.
At the same time, candidates should submit the usual documents needed to apply for a place to do research at the University of Cambridge, i.e.:
- a Graduate Application Form (GRADSAF)
- candidates from the European Union need to make an application to their prospective Department for a Public Fees award by the due deadline.
