Applying on paper
If you apply on paper you will still need access to a computer to track the progress of your application and to read messages on your self-service account.
You must download the Graduate Application Pack, collect the required supporting information (references, transcripts and so on, as described in the prospectus entry for the course), and send it with the application form and the packing list to the University in a single packet. The packing list explains how many copies of the documents you also need to provide. If you are applying for more than one course, please send each application packet in a separate envelope, and remember to include the required number of copies of each item of documentation in each packet.
Paper applications are also subject to a non-refundable application fee of (GBPSterling) £35. We can accept a cheque, banker's draft or international money order, which must be made payable to 'The University of Cambridge' and drawn on a UK bank account. These methods of payment may be acquired through a UK bank account, post office, or an overseas bank which provides international banking services and has access to a UK account. If you are unsure of how to obtain any of these payments, you should contact your own bank in the first instance clearly stating the requirements. Please be aware that your bank may have a service charge for providing any of the listed payments.
Attach your payment to your completed application form; do not send it separately.
Your full name, address and date of birth and the name of the course to which you are applying must be written on the back of the cheque/banker's draft/money order.
Payments made by any methods other than those listed as acceptable will NOT be processed. We do not accept payment in foreign currency or cash. Please do not contact us for account details as we do not provide this information and cannot accept bank transfers.
If these conditions have not been met, we regret we cannot process your application.
If you are applying on paper, you should not use any online cover sheets to accompany further materials unless we make you an offer of admission. At that point, we will explain how to use self-service for generating cover sheets.
After we process your application, you will receive a letter explaining how to log in to your self-service account to track the progress of your application. You must not send further materials unless we specifically ask for them.
Email and fax applications
Please DO NOT apply by email or by fax – we will not accept applications of this kind. You must send your supporting documents to us by post – it is not currently possible to upload them with your online application.
Applying for funding
See Costs and Funding for details. You will probably not learn about the result of your funding application until some time after the result of your academic application. You should bear in mind that your funding application might be unsuccessful and we strongly recommend that you investigate other sources of funding which may be available to you. Please note that having been awarded funding by an outside body does not guarantee that you will receive an offer of admission to the University.
