Borrowing equipment
How to borrow an item from the loan pool
Students and College staff can borrow equipment by contacting the DRC directly to book an appointment with an Adviser.
Non-College staff can only access the Loan Pool on referral from the Occupational Health Service, or your Human Resources School Team.
Length of loan
The length of loan for students who have contacted the DRC directly will be decided by your Adviser, having determined your needs.
Staff can borrow items for a maximum of 10 working days, during which time you should arrange with your line manager to have a similar item purchased for yourself.
Returns
Please return the item(s) to the DRC by the date specified on the agreement. On occasion you may be advised to return the item to the University Computing Service. Items are popular and it's very likely that someone will be waiting to borrow it after you.
Extensions
Extensions are available to students only and can be arranged by contacting a DRC Adviser.
Waiting list
If an item is unavailable to borrow, your name will be added to the waiting list. You will be notified by email once the item is available to collect from the DRC.
Faulty equipment
Please notify the DRC immediately if your item is faulty and return it to the DRC for repair. You will need to contact your Adviser for an alternative device.
Liability
The DRC holds the borrower liable for the safe return of any item(s) (including packaging) borrowed from the Loan Pool, by the due date. Failing that a replacement of the same or nearest equivalent specification must be brought to the DRC by the due date. We recommend that you add any item(s) borrowed to the list of contents covered by your household insurance.
