General Information
Housed on second and third floors of Raised Faculty Building — see also entry for the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages.
Smoking
No smoking anywhere in the building.
Medical facilities
First aiders in building.
Emergency procedures
Evacuation chairs fitted. All staff have had training on how to use the evacuation chairs. Staff are there during office hours. The Disability Liaison Officer is happy to help with emergency evacuation arrangements for use of the building out of hours if necessary. Disability Liaison Officer is fire warden during office hours.
Physical Access
Entrances
Level access at main entrance, through two sets of glass double doors. Security swipecard system out of hours. Swipecard also opens glass doors automatically if required.
Number of floors
Faculty on third floor of building. Library on second floor.
Lifts and stairs
Lift to all floors.
Lecture theatres
Most lectures take place in Lecture Block - see separate entry.
Seminar/teaching rooms
Some seminar and teaching rooms within faculty, all accessible. Boardroom, also accessible, sometimes used for teaching.
Library
Library and all bookshelves are accessible. Staff will fetch books and help as necessary.
Computer facilities
Accessibility computer available. Chairs with armrests available.

Disabled toilets on ground floor and third floor.

Common room on third floor of faculty, level and accessible.

Magnification software installed on one computer.
Large print, Braille and audio
Large print version of library guide available. Other information available in large print, and on different coloured paper, on prior request.
Library and magnification equipment
Good lighting in library. Magnifying glass available. Photocopier available.

Good signs, and the department is small.

- Library is carpeted and usually very quiet.
