General Information
Most teaching takes place in the main building, which is ground level and has good access. The adjacent building is a Victorian House, containing only administration offices.
Smoking
No smoking anywhere in the building.
Medical facilities
First aiders on site.
Emergency procedures
No evacuation chairs, but main building is all on ground floor.
Physical Access
Entrances
Level access at main entrance, into large, smooth, carpeted foyer.
Number of floors
Main building all on ground floor, except for upper balcony of concert hall. Adjacent house on two levels.
Lifts and stairs
No lifts.
Lecture theatres
Six lecture rooms, all in main building. One is tiered, with fixed seating, but the others are level and have moveable furniture.
Seminar/teaching rooms
All seminar and teaching rooms on ground floor and accessible.
Library
Level access, through heavy doors. Wide aisles, and staff will help fetch books. Catalogue computers are standing level. One low computer and some keyboards in the annex. Annex up steep slope and two sets of heavy doors.
Computer facilities
Centre of Music and Science on ground floor, with swipe card access. Fully accessible.
Toilets
Two disabled toilets in foyer.
Common rooms
Common room on ground floor and accessible.
Other
- Concert hall tiered, but with designated wheelchair spaces. Balcony upstairs.
Visual Impairments
Assistance dogs
Assistance dogs welcome.
Computer facilities
Currently no special hardware or software for visually impaired users, but each student's requirements would be considered on a case by case basis.
Large print, Braille and audio
Large print information on prior request.
Library and magnification equipment
Good lighting in library. Photocopier available.
Signs and wayfinding
Good, clear signs.
Hearing Impairments
Induction loops
Induction loop in concert hall.
Other
- Visual fire alarms fitted in recital room and concert hall.

Extra time and support is given to students with Specific Learning Difficulties. Discuss your needs with the Disability Liaison Officer.
