Standing Committee on Applications
The Standing Committee on Applications is a committee of the Council which meets monthly throughout the year to consider applications for examination allowances and related matters. There is also a large volume of student casework undertaken under delegated authority much of which involves the expert opinion of its Medical Advisers.
All applications must be submitted by the relevant Senior Tutor on behalf of the student concerned using the application forms below. Students should raise any queries relating to applications to their Tutor or Tutorial Office as appropriate.
Making a Request for a Graduate Examination Allowance
Please note that Graduate Examination Allowances for Graduate Students only relate to the MPhil, MRes and MSt degrees and the Certificate of Postgraduate Study (CPGS) and Graduate Diplomas in Economics, Legal Studies and International Law.
The college tutor will need to email their request for a Graduate Examination Allowance to the Student Registry Graduate Examinations Team. Please give full information and detail exactly which part(s) of the overall examination the application relates to. A medical note from the students' GP, counsellor or college nurse will be required if the application is being made on medical grounds.
Please note that the Board needs to receive requests no later than three months from the date of the Board's letter if candidates have been formally notified by the Board in writing that they have not been approved for their degree.
Making a Request for a Special Examination Arrangement for a Graduate Student
Please note that Special Examination Arrangements for Graduate Students only relate to examinations undertaken by Graduate Students for graduate qualifications; that is, the PhD, MSc, MLitt, MPhil, MRes, MSt, Certificate of Postgraduate Study (CPGS) and Graduate Diplomas in Economics, Legal Studies and International Law.
The college tutor needs to email their request for a special examination arrangement to the Student Registry Graduate Examinations Team. A medical note from the students' GP, counsellor or college nurse will be required if the application is being made on medical grounds.
The application also needs to be made on CamSIS (refer to section 15 and 15.1 of the CamSIS User Guide).
The Board will let the college and all interested parties know the result of the application once the request has been considered.
