Gates Cambridge Trust
In October 2000, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation announced a donation of $210 million to the University of Cambridge to establish the Gates Cambridge Trust. The Trust administers the Gates Cambridge Scholarships - a prestigious international scholarship programme at the University of Cambridge.
Gates Cambridge Scholarships are available to outstanding young men and women from outside the United Kingdom who wish to pursue a full-time postgraduate degree in any subject offered at the University of Cambridge. Scholarships are awarded on intellectual ability, leadership potential, social commitment and a good match between the candidate and the University of Cambridge.
Full information about the scholarships is available from the Gates Cambridge Scholarships website.
Cambridge Commonwealth Trust and Cambridge Overseas Trust
The Cambridge Commonwealth Trust and the Cambridge Overseas Trust were established as charities by the University of Cambridge in the 1980s in order to provide financial support for international students on degree courses at Cambridge.
The Trusts offer a number of scholarships, under a multiplicity of schemes, to enable candidates of outstanding academic merit from around the world (excluding the United Kingdom and the EU) to pursue courses of study or research at the University of Cambridge. These awards are for all levels of graduate and undergraduate study.
Full information about the scholarships is available from the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust and the Cambridge Overseas Trust website.
