Elections, appointments and grants of title

The following elections, appointments and grants of title have been made:

Elections

Professor Stephen Morris, M.Sc., University of York, Ph.D., City University London, Professor of Health Economics, University College London, elected to the RAND Professorship of Health Services Research with effect from 1 June 2019.

Professor Julian Parkhill, B.Sc., University of Birmingham, Ph.D., University of Bristol, Senior Group Leader, Wellcome Sanger Institute, elected to the Marks & Spencer Professorship of Farm Animal Health, Food Science and Food Safety with effect from 1 October 2019.

Professor Pierre Raphael, M.A., École Polytechnique, Ph.D., Université de Cergy-Pontoise, Professor, Université de Nice Sophia-Antipolis, elected to the Herchel Smith Professorship of Pure Mathematics with effect from 1 March 2019.

History. Dr Benjamin John Griffin, G, M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D., JN, appointed from 1 October 2019 until the retiring age and subject to a probationary period of three years.

Land Economy. Dr Li Wan, M.Phil., HH, Ph.D., DOW, B.A., Huazhong, China, appointed from 25 March 2019 until the retiring age and subject to a probationary period of five years.

Physics. Dr Oleg Brandt, Diploma in Physics, Bonn, D.Phil., Oxford, appointed from 25 March 2019 until the retiring age and subject to a probationary period of five years. Dr Helena Sofia Knowles, Ph.D., JN, B.Sc., M.Sc., Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zürich, appointed from 6 January 2020 until the retiring age and subject to a probationary period of five years.

Politics and International Studies. Dr Cristina Peñasco Paton, Q, B.Sc., Castilla-La Mancha, Spain, M.Phil., Pontificia Comillas, Spain, Ph.D., Juan Carlos, Spain, appointed from 1 September 2019 until the retiring age and subject to a probationary period of five years.

Psychology. Dr Deborah Talmi, M.A., Tel Aviv, Ph.D., Toronto, appointed from 1 August 2019 until the retiring age and subject to a probationary period of five years.

Associate Lecturer

Veterinary Medicine. Mr James Henry Warland, Vet.M.B., M.A., JE, has been appointed from 1 November 2018 until 31 October 2023.

Clinical Lecturer

Medicine. Dr Katharina Kohler, M.B. B.Chir., LC, B.S., California Institute of Technology, M.S., Ph.D., Colorado, MRCP, FRCA, appointed from 31 March 2019 until 30 March 2023 and subject to a probationary period of twelve months.

Assistant Director

University Offices (Academic Division). Dr Joanna Dekkers appointed from 1 January 2018 until the retiring age and designated Head of Research Operations.

Assistant Treasurer

University Offices (Finance Division). Ms Philipa Moore appointed from 1 April 2019 until the retiring age.

Senior Assistant Registraries

University Offices (Academic Division). Ms Gemma Kate Margaret Long, B.Sc., Cardiff, M.A., Bath, appointed from 20 May 2019 until the retiring age and subject to a probationary period of nine months.

University Offices (Estate Management). Mr Mark Andrew Parsons and Mr Michael James Osbourn appointed from 1 January 2019 until the retiring age.

Assistant Registrary

University Offices (Academic Division). Ms Catharine Jane Butler, B.A., Manchester, appointed from 17 June 2019 until the retiring age and subject to a probationary period of nine months.

Grants of Title

Affiliated Lecturers

Clinical Medicine. Dr Katharine Riley has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 February 2019 until 31 January 2021. Mr James Peter Whatling has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 April 2019 for a further two years. Ms Jenny Hannah has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 May 2019 for a further two years.

Computer Science and Technology. Dr Jatinder Singh, JN, has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 January 2019 until 31 December 2020.

Education. Professor Ian Roger Dale has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 17 January 2019 until 16 January 2021.

Engineering. Professor Mihaela van der Schaar has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 11 March 2019 until 10 March 2021.

Modern and Medieval Languages. Ms Annemarie Künzl-Snodgrass, JE, has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 October 2018 until 30 September 2020.
