Universities Superannuation Scheme: University’s response to the Joint Expert Panel Report

Further to the Council’s Notice dated 16 July 2018 (Reporter, 6515, 2017–18, p. 819), the Joint Expert Panel (JEP) report published in September 2018 (and available at: http://www.ussjep.org.uk/report-of-the-joint-expert-panel/) made a number of recommendations for resolving the disputed 2017 valuation of the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS). In order to resolve the dispute and complete the valuation, however, these recommendations must be found acceptable by employers (represented by UUK), by scheme members (represented by UCU), and by the USS Trustee and the Pensions Regulator. UUK wrote to employers asking for their views on the JEP’s recommendations. The University of Cambridge has now published the response that it sent to UUK, which is available at http://www.admin.cam.ac.uk/reporter/2018-19/weekly/6527/Cambridge-JEP-response.pdf. Further information about UUK’s analysis of responses to the JEP consultation is available at: https://www.ussemployers.org.uk/news/analysis-responses-jep-consultation-published
