Notices by the General Board

Herchel Smith Professorship of Pure Mathematics

The General Board has been informed by the Board of Electors to the Herchel Smith Professorship of Pure Mathematics that they have been unable to make an election to this Professorship (see Reporter, 6356, 2013–14, p. 775). Under the provisions of Special Ordinance C (vii) B. 20 (a) (ii) the Board has discontinued the Professorship until 1 January 2018.

Faculty Board of Clinical Medicine

With immediate effect

The General Board, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Clinical Medicine, has approved changes to the membership of the Faculty Board of Clinical Medicine, in order to reflect internal and external changes in posts, to ensure that membership is up to date, appropriate, and reflects current practice, and to incorporate the Director of Graduate Education, a new senior role within the School with responsibility for graduate matters.

Schedule I to the regulations for Classes of Faculty Board Membership, Elections, and Periods of Office (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 604) has been amended such that the number of members in class (e) is ten and the total is 41. Schedule III has been amended to achieve the following:

to remove the Chair of the Consultant Staff Council in Cambridge;

to replace the ‘Associate Deans with responsibility for undergraduate medical education’ with ‘two Clinical Sub-Deans’;

to include the Director of Graduate Education within the list of holders of specified offices;

to include the Chair of the Degree Committee within the list of holders of specified offices.

Faculty Board of English

With effect from 1 January 2018

The General Board, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board of English, has approved the following amendment to the membership of the Faculty Board.

By amending the entry for the Faculty Board of English in Schedule I to the regulations for Classes of Faculty Board Membership, Elections, and Periods of Office (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 604) so that the number of members in class (c) (members elected by the Faculty) decreases by three to eight and the total membership is revised accordingly.
