Notice of a Discussion on Tuesday, 17 February 2015

The Vice-Chancellor invites those qualified under the regulations for Discussions (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 111) to attend a Discussion in the Senate-House, on Tuesday, 17 February 2015, at 2 p.m. for the discussion of:

1. First-stage Report of the Council, dated 27 January 2015, on the construction of a new laboratory for the Schools of the Biological Sciences and Clinical Medicine (Reporter, 6373, 2014–15, p. 346).

2. Second-stage Report of the Council, dated 27 January 2015, on the project to expand the Addenbrooke’s Clinical Research Centre at Addenbrooke’s Hospital (Reporter, 6373, 2014–15, p. 348).

3. Report of the Council, dated 3 February 2015, on the reconfiguration and refurbishment of space within the Baker and Inglis buildings to establish a Dyson Centre for Engineering Design in the Department of Engineering (Reporter, 6374, 2014–15, p. 375).

Amending Statutes for Gonville and Caius College

5 February 2015

The Vice-Chancellor gives notice that he has received from the Governing Body of Gonville and Caius College, in accordance with the provisions of Section 7(2) of the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge Act 1923, the text of a proposed Statute to amend the Statutes of the College. The current Statutes of the College and the amending Statute are available on the College’s website:

Congregation for the conferment of Honorary Degrees

9 February 2015

The Vice-Chancellor reminds members of the University that a Congregation will be held on Wednesday, 17 June 2015, at which the Chancellor expects to confer Honorary Degrees (see Graces 1–8, p. 383).

Admission will be by ticket only and details of the arrangements and application for tickets are expected to be published in the Reporter on 22 April 2015.

Election to the Council in class (c)

9 February 2015

The Vice-Chancellor announces that the following candidates have been duly nominated in accordance with Statute A IV 2 for election to the Council in class (c) (members of the Regent House other than Heads of Colleges, Professors, and Readers), and that it has been certified to him that each candidate has consented to be nominated in the class shown:

An election is necessary to select one member in class (c). The election will be conducted by ballot under the Single Transferable Vote regulations. Online voting will open at 9 a.m. on Friday, 20 February 2015 and close at 5 p.m. on Monday, 2 March 2015. Hard-copy voting papers will be distributed not later than Friday, 20 February 2015 to those who opted before 12 December 2014 to continue to receive them; the last date for the return of voting papers will be 5 p.m. on Monday, 2 March 2015.

Election to the Board of Scrutiny in class (c)(ii)

9 February 2015

Regulation 2 for the election of members of the Board of Scrutiny (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 121) provides that, if at an election insufficient nominations are received to fill all the places either in class (c)(i) or in class (c)(ii), the Council shall appoint as many members as may be necessary. No person having been nominated in the election for two members of the Board of Scrutiny in class (c)(ii) (members of the Regent House), the Council will be asked to make appointments to those vacancies.

University Stipends and Salaries: Amendment to scale

9 February 2015

Further to the Notice published on 22 October 2014 (Reporter, 6361, 2014–15, p. 58), the Council, on the recommendation of the University and Assistants Joint Board, wishes to confirm the arrangements for the implementation of the changes to the general stipend and salary scale approved by Grace 2 of 22 October 2014. Those affected by the changes will receive the increment from 1 January 2015, not their normal incremental date.
