The following election, appointments, and grants of title have been made:

Election

Professor Jacqueline Rose, B.A., Oxford, Matrise, Sorbonne, Ph.D., London, FBA, Professor of English, Queen Mary, London, elected Diane Middlebrook and Carl Djerassi Visiting Professor of Gender Studies from 7 October 2014 until 30 September 2016 and assigned to the Centre for Gender Studies, Department of Politics and International Studies.

Materials Science and Metallurgy. Dr Howard James Stone, B.A., Ph.D., Q, appointed from 1 October 2012 until the retiring age and subject to a probationary period of five years.

Engineering. Dr Andrew Peter Da Silva Wheeler, Ph.D., CAI, M.Eng., Oxford, appointed from 1 December 2014 until the retiring age. Dr Nicholas Robert Atkins, M.Eng., D.Phil., Oxford, appointed from 1 January 2015 until the retiring age.

Judge Business School. Mr Jochem Jacob Kroezen, B.Sc., Hogeschool Voor Economische Studies, Amsterdam, M.Sc., Ph.D., Erasmus, Rotterdam, appointed from 1 October 2014 until the retiring age and subject to a probationary period of five years.

Head of Department

Department of East Asian Studies. Professor Roel Sterckx, CL, CLH, appointed from 1 October 2014 until 30 September 2017.

Astronomy. Mr David William Savidge, appointed from 1 June 2014 until the retiring age and subject to a probationary period of nine months.

Engineering. Dr Huong Thien Thi Tran, Ph.D., HH, B.Sc., Sussex, appointed from 1 December 2014 until the retiring age and subject to a probationary period of nine months.

Advisory Officers

University Offices (Estate Management). Mr Richard Drummond Borthwick appointed from 17 November 2014 until the retiring age and subject to a probationary period of nine months. Mr James Michael Frost, B.Sc., ManchesterPolytechnic, appointed from 10 November 2014 until the retiring age and subject to a probationary period of nine months.

Computer Officer

University Information Services. Mr Samuel David Wenham, B.Sc., Plymouth, appointed from 1 January 2015 until the retiring age and subject to a probationary period of nine months.

Language Teaching Officer

Spanish and Portuguese. Mr Felipe Schuery Soares, Bachelor’s Degree, Federal Do Rio de Janeiro, Master’s Degree, Blaise-Pascal, Clermont-Ferrand, France, appointed from 1 September 2014 until the retiring age and subject to a probationary period of nine months.

Grants of Title

Affiliated Lecturers

Engineering. Dr Edward Nicholas Hartley, Q, and Dr Richard Thomas Pates, JE, have been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 October 2014 for one year. Mr Anthony Roulstone, K, has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 October 2014 for a further year.

Land Economy. Dr Antara Haldar, PET, has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 October 2014 for one year. Dr Nigel Allington, DOW, Dr Natalie-Jane Bayfield, Dr Michael Robert Carroll, Mr Lawrence Chadwick, Dr Flavio Vasconcellos Comin, Dr Danuta Jachniak, Mr Kelvin Macdonald, Dr Alexandra Morris, Dr Juanita Roche, Dr William Seabrooke, F, and Mr David Stott, ED, have been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 October 2014 for a further year.
