Philosophical Society

The Annual General Meeting of the Society will be held on Monday, 20 October 2014, at 4.30 p.m. in the Arts School.

The office of the Society is situated in the Arts School, Bene’t Street (email philosoc@hermes.cam.ac.uk or telephone 01223 334743).

The Society was founded in 1819 ‘for the purpose of promoting scientific inquiry’ and was granted a Royal Charter by King William IV in 1832. Membership is open to graduates of the University, and to other graduates who at the time of application are resident in Cambridge or its neighbourhood.

Research Studentships for graduate students are available; the closing dates are 31 March and 30 September.

Travel grants for Fellows are available; closing dates are 1 November, 1 February, 1 May, and 1 July for travel in the following vacations.
