Annual Meetings of the Faculty Boards

Architecture and History of Art

The Chair of the Faculty Board of Architecture and History of Art gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2.15 p.m. on Tuesday, 19 November 2013, in the Board Room of the Department of Architecture, 1–5 Scroope Terrace. The main business will be to elect two members of Faculty Board in class (c), in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), to serve for four years from 1 January 2014.

Nominations for this election, and notice of any business for the meeting should be sent in writing to the Secretary of the Faculty Board of Architecture and History of Art, 1–5 Scroope Terrace, to arrive not later than Monday, 11 November 2013.

Biology

The Chair of the Faculty Board of Biology gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, 12 November 2013, in the Faculty Office, 17 Mill Lane. The main business will be the election of two members of the Faculty Board in class (c), in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c) and a procedure approved by the Faculty by which one of those elected is nominated by the Department of Genetics and one by the Department of Psychology to serve from 1 January 2014 to 31 December 2017 (Statutes and Ordinances, pp. 590–1).

Nominations, for which the consent of the candidate must be obtained, signed by the proposer and seconder, together with notice of any other business, should be sent to the Secretary, Dr Fiona Russell, Faculty of Biology, 17 Mill Lane, Cambridge, CB2 1RX, to arrive not later than noon on Monday, 4 November 2013. Copies of the agenda will be posted in Departments within the Faculty.

Economics

The Chair of the Faculty Board of Economics gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, 18 November 2013, in the Meade Room, Austin Robinson Building, Sidgwick Avenue. The agenda for the meeting will be circulated to each member of the Faculty. One of the items of business will be to elect, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c) , two members of the Faculty Board in class (c) to serve for four years, from 1 January 2014.

Nominations in writing, signed by the proposer and seconder, together with an indication of the nominee’s willingness to serve, should reach the Secretary, Marie Butcher (email: mab30@cam.ac.uk), Faculty of Economics, Austin Robinson Building, Sidgwick Avenue, by 12 noon on Thursday, 14 November. It would be helpful if notice of any other business that members wish to be discussed were sent in writing to the Secretary by 10 a.m. on Friday, 8 November 2013.

Engineering

The Chair of the Faculty Board of Engineering gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, 8 November 2013, in Lecture Room 6 of the Department of Engineering, Trumpington Street. An election will be held, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), for one member of the Faculty Board in class (c) to serve for four years from 1 January 2014.

Nomination forms (available from the Faculty Board Office) and notice of any other business should be sent in writing to M. J. McKerchar, Secretary of the Faculty Board, to reach her not later than noon on Wednesday, 6 November 2013.

Physics and Chemistry

The Chair of the Faculty Board of Physics and Chemistry gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2.15 p.m. on Friday, 22 November 2013, in the Committee Room, Institute of Astronomy, Madingley Road. The main business will be the election of three members of the Faculty Board in class (c), in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c).

Nominations, signed by the proposer and seconder, for which the consent of the candidate must be obtained, should reach the Secretary at the Institute of Astronomy not later than Monday, 4 November 2013. Notice of any other business should reach the Secretary by the same date.

 

Electronic calculators in University examinations, 2013–14: Amendment

The list of examinations in which calculators are permitted, which was published on 2 October (Reporter, 6319, 2013–14, p. 19), should be amended as follows:

Master of Finance

As well as the Casio calculators listed in the notice, candidates may also take the Texas Instruments BA II Plus and the Texas Instruments BA II Plus Professional into every examination room.

 

Historical Tripos, Part II, 2014: Amendment to notice of subjects and periods

The Faculty Board of History give notice of an amendment to the title of Special Subject G for Papers 2 and 3 of Part II of the Historical Tripos, 2014 (Reporter, 6276, 2011–12, p. 882) from 'An alternative history of Ireland: Religious minorities and identity in the 26 counties, 1912–1959' to 'An alternative history of Ireland: Religious minorities and identity in the 26 counties, 1900–1959'.

The Faculty Board are satisfied that no candidate’s preparation for the examination will be adversely affected by this amendment.
