Regulations for examinations

Economics Tripos, Part IIb

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 303)

With effect from 1 October 2013

The General Board’s Education Committee have granted permission to the Faculty Board of Economics to amend the scheme of the examination for Part IIb of the Economics Tripos for the academical year 2013–14, by withdrawing Paper 14 ‘World Depression in the interwar years’, and by adding Paper 15 ‘Topics in quantitative economic history’, to the list of papers on offer, for one year only.

Part IIb

Regulation 19.

By attaching a footnote to Papers 14 and 15 to indicate that Paper 15 will be available for examination in 2014 instead of Paper 14.

Paper Ed.E3 ‘Shakespeare and Renaissance drama’ in Schedule I of Section III is to be renamed ‘Shakespeare’.

Examination in Innovation, Strategy, and Organization for the M.Phil. Degree

With effect from 1 October 2013

The scheme of the examination has been amended with the introduction of a new regulation as set out below (current Regulation 3 will be renumbered as 4).

3. In place of the examination prescribed for thesis specified in Regulation 1(a), the Degree Committee may permit a particular candidate to take three prescribed modules from a list approved by the Degree Committee.

Examination in International Relations for the degree of Master of Studies

With effect from 1 September 2013

On the recommendation of the Degree Committee for the Faculty of Human, Social, and Political Science, and with the approval of the Institute of Continuing Education Strategic Committee, the General Board have approved amendments to the special regulations for the M.St. in International Relations, with effect from 1 September 2013. Regulation 4 has been inserted as follows:

4. The Examiners may recommend to the Degree Committee that it recommends to the Institute of Continuing Education the award of the Postgraduate Diploma to a candidate who has satisfactorily completed the requirements specified in Regulation 1(c), and a candidate who has not completed, or fails to reach the required standard, in the thesis.

With immediate effect

Candidates who have already completed either (i) two 60-hour Postgraduate Certificates in Professional Study; or (ii) a Postgraduate Certificate in Educational Research prior to October 2012 will be permitted up to two years from the start of the academical year 2012–13 to take elements they need from the new awards to achieve a 90-credit Postgraduate Diploma, subject to the candidate completing the Postgraduate Diploma within the four-year time frame. From the academical year 2014–15 all students are expected to be studying on the Faculty’s Postgraduate Advanced Certificate in Educational Studies.
