Cambridge University and College Union

Cambridge University and College Union (UCU) will be hosting a panel discussion on the implications of the Government’s ‘gold’ open access plans, entitled Open access and the threat to academic freedom, at 5 p.m. on Thursday, 7 March 2013.

The discussion will take place at the Faculty of English, West Road, and feature contributions from Professor Peter Mandler, of the Faculty of History, and Dr Meera Sabaratnam, of the Department of Politics and International Studies. All are welcome to attend.

Society for the History of the University

The next meeting will be held at 8.30 p.m. in the Old Library, Darwin College, on Thursday, 21 March 2013. Professor Haroon Ahmed will give a talk entitled The history of Cambridge computing. Refreshments will be available from 8 p.m.

Philosophical Society

The Society’s final lecture of the Lent Term will take place at 5.30 p.m. on Monday, 11 March 2013, in the Bristol-Myers Squibb Lecture Theatre, Department of Chemistry, Lensfield Road.
