Notice of benefactions

28 February 2013

The Vice-Chancellor gives notice that he has received with gratitude the following benefactions:

(i) a benefaction of $606,100 from Don Alberto Benavides de la Quintana and Don Alberto Benavides Ganoza, payable in instalments over four years, of which both the capital and income are available to support the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research’s One River Project;

(ii) donations amounting to approximately £250,000 in total, which have been contributed by subscribers to the Cottrell Appeal. The Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy has recommended, with the support of the subscribers, that the proceeds of the Appeal should form a Fund, the income of which would be used to support the research expenses of the Sir Alan Cottrell Professor of Materials Science.

The Council is submitting a Grace to the Regent House (Grace 2, p. 393) for the approval of regulations to govern the Sir Alan Cottrell Professorship of Materials Science Fund.

The Council has received the remarks made at the Discussion on 19 February 2013 on the above Report (Reporter, 6299, 2012–13, p. 385; 6295, 2012–13, p. 339) and is submitting a Grace for the approval of the Report (Grace 1, p. 393).
