The Vice-Chancellor invites those qualified under the regulations for Discussions (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 107) to attend a Discussion in the Senate-House on Tuesday, 19 February 2013, at 2 p.m. for the discussion of:
1. Report of the Council, dated 21 January 2013, on the introduction of electronic voting in ballots of the Regent House (Reporter, 6295, 2012–13, p. 339).
The Report published in this issue (p. 362) will be discussed on Tuesday, 5 March 2013.
The Vice-Chancellor announces that he has received the following nomination, in accordance with Statute A, VII, 3, for election to the Board of Scrutiny in class (c)(ii) (members of the Regent House), and that it has been certified to him that the candidate has consented to be so nominated:
Dr Ruth Lisa Chadwick Charles, N, nominated by Mr B. K. Omotani, DAR, and Mr J. Warbrick, PEM.
No other candidate having been nominated, the Vice-Chancellor declares that Dr Charles is elected, with immediate effect, to serve as a member of the Board of Scrutiny until 30 September 2013.
The Vice-Chancellor begs leave to refer to his Notice of 16 January 2013 (Reporter, 6293, 2012–13, p. 299), concerning proposed amending Statutes for Christ’s College. He hereby gives notice that in the opinion of the Council the proposed Statutes make no alteration of any Statute which affects the University, and do not require the consent of the University; that the interests of the University are not prejudiced by them, and that the Council has resolved to take no action upon them, provided that the Council will wish to reconsider the proposed Statutes if they have not been submitted to the Privy Council by 1 February 2014.
The Vice-Chancellor gives notice that he has received with gratitude a further benefaction of $1.5m from the Board of Cambridge in America to support Trophoblast Research. The benefaction is made possible following a generous gift from an anonymous donor. The terms of the benefaction allow for 80% to be used at the discretion of the Managers of the Trophoblast Research Fund (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 963) and for 20% to be added to the capital of the Fund.
