The Vice-Chancellor invites those qualified under the regulations for Discussions (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 107) to attend a Discussion in the Senate-House, on Tuesday, 6 March, at 2 p.m., for the discussion of:

1. Report of the General Board, dated 8 February 2012, on the establishment of a Professorship of Sustainable Reaction Engineering (Reporter, 2011–12, p. 456).

2. Report of the General Board, dated 8 February 2012, on the establishment of Professorships of Politics, Engineering, and Genetics (Reporter, 2011–12, p. 457).

Notice of a benefaction

27 February 2012

The Vice-Chancellor gives notice that he has accepted with gratitude a bequest of approximately £564,000 under the Will of the late Anthony Murdoch Connell. The bequest will be used to establish a fund, to be named the Connell Fund, for the purchase of books to support the study of philosophy, psychology, sociology, and human relations for the general purpose of a better world.

The Council is submitting a Grace to the Regent House (Grace 5, p. 485) for the approval of regulations to govern this Fund.

University Combination Room: Notice of closure

The Combination Room Committee wishes to inform members that the University Combination Room will be closed on Friday, 2 March 2012. The Committee apologizes for any inconvenience experienced by users.
