Regulations for Examinations

The General Board give notice that, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board or other authority concerned, the regulations for certain University examinations have been amended as follows:

Manufacturing Engineering Tripos

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 354)

With effect from 1 October 2011

The regulations for the Tripos have been amended to clarify that both parts of the Tripos are of Part II standard; successful completion of either part is sufficient for a student to be awarded the B.A. Honours Degree.

Regulation 1.

By amending the first sentence of the regulation so as to read:

The Manufacturing Engineering Tripos shall consist of two Parts: Parts IIa and IIb.

Regulations 2–5, 10, 12–14.

All references to Part I of the Manufacturing Engineering Tripos have been replaced by reference to Part IIa and all references to Part II of that Tripos have been replaced by reference to Part IIb.

Examination in Epidemiology for the M.Phil. Degree

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 514)

With effect from 1 October 2011

Regulation 1.

The regulation has been amended by removing the following sub-paragraph:

(d) an exercise in biostatistics.

Examination in History, Philosophy, and Sociology of Science, Technology, and Medicine for the M.Phil. Degree

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 516)

With effect from 1 October 2011

Regulation 1(b).

The subject areas available have been revised so as to read:

1. General philosophy of science

2. History of ancient and medieval science, technology, and medicine

3. History of early modern science, technology, and medicine

4. History of modern science, technology, and medicine

5. History, philosophy, and sociology of the life sciences

6. History, philosophy, and sociology of the physical and mathematical sciences

7. History, philosophy, and sociology of the social and psychological sciences

8. History, philosophy, and sociology of medicine

9. Ethics and politics of science

10. History and methodology of history, philosophy, and sociology of science, technology, and medicine
