Graces

Graces submitted to the Regent House on 19 January 2011

The Council submits the following Graces to the Regent House. These Graces, other than any which is withdrawn or for which a ballot is requested in accordance with the regulations for Graces of the Regent House (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 107), will be deemed to have been approved at 4 p.m. on Friday, 28 January 2011.

1. That, notwithstanding Regulation 1 of the regulations for the University Advocate and Deputy University Advocates (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 681), Dr Philippa Rogerson, of Gonville and Caius College, be reappointed University Advocate until 30 September 2011.1

2. That Regulation 2(f) of the regulations for the Board of Graduate Studies be amended as follows:2

Regulation 2(f).

By inserting in line 2 after ‘Eng.D.’ the title ‘Ed.D.’ and in line 3 after ‘M.Litt.’ the title ‘M.Res.’

3. That a Zoology Fund for Outstanding Contribution be established in the University to be governed by the following regulations:3

Zoology Fund for Outstanding Contribution

1. The sums subscribed in honour of former Professors in the Department of Zoology to recognize excellence in performance or outstanding contribution shall form a fund to be called the Zoology Fund for Outstanding Contribution.

2. The capital and income of the Fund shall be at the disposal of the Head of the Department of Zoology to reward, at her or his sole discretion, one or more students, teaching, research, and support staff in the Department who have acquitted themselves with distinction in their study or work.

Graces to be submitted to the Regent House at a Congregation on 22 January 2011

The Council has sanctioned the submission of the following Graces to the Regent House at a Congregation to be held on 22 January 2011:

That the following person be admitted to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy by incorporation:

1. Andrew James Murray, Fellow of Trinity Hall, Doctor of Philosophy of the University of Oxford (2005).

That the following person be admitted to the degree of Master of Arts by incorporation:

2. Michael Andrew Parker, Professor of High Energy Physics and Fellow of Peterhouse, Master of Arts of the University of Oxford (1985).

That the following persons be admitted to the degree of Master of Arts under the provisions of Statute B, III, 6:

7. Isobel Jayne Humphrey, Administrative Officer in the Academic Division of the University Offices and Assistant Secretary to the School of the Humanities and Social Sciences.

8. Grahame Jenkins, Senior Advisory Officer in the Estate Management and Building Service.

9. Gheorghe Dan Pantos, Fellow of Pembroke College.

10. Deborah Tracy Salmon, Administrative Officer in the Management Information Services Division of the University Offices.

11. Sandra Irene Smith, Fellow of Robinson College.

12. Judith Margaret Smither, Computer Officer in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

13. Sujata Stead, Global Manager, Marketing, Cambridge ESOL, in the Local Examinations Syndicate.
