A seminar in the history of cartography will be held in the Gardner Room at Emmanuel College, St Andrew’s Street, Cambridge, CB2 3AP, at 5.30 p.m. on Tuesday, 16 November 2010, entitled Geography rectified: a study of a seventeenth-century terrestrial globe and the motives of its makers, by Emma Perkins (Department of History and Philosophy of Science). All are welcome.

K. G. SYKES LECTURE IN ITALIAN STUDIES

The fifth annual K. G. Sykes Italian Lecture, entitled Italy and divided memories: stories from World War II, will be delivered by Professor John Foot, Professor of Modern Italian History at University College London. It will take place on Friday, 12 November, at 5 p.m. in the Old Library, Pembroke College. The Lecture is open to members of the University and others who are interested, but it would be helpful if those planning to attend could contact Sally March (email sally.march@pem.cam.ac.uk, tel. 01223 765526) to reserve a place.
