Gender Studies Public Forum: Notice

Public forums will take place on Tuesdays (unless otherwise stated) from 6.45 p.m. to 8.15 p.m., in association with the Guardian newspaper and kindly supported by Cambridge University Press.

Open classes in Modern Hebrew: Notice

The foundation course in Modern Hebrew will move from Wednesdays to Mondays at 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., in Room 214 at the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, Sidgwick Avenue. All are welcome.

Announcement of lectures, seminars, etc.

The following lectures, seminars, etc. will be open to members of the University and others who are interested:

Classics. Professor Michael Clarke, Professor of Classics, NUI Galway, will deliver the Corbett Lecture entitled The flesh and the bones of epic: comparative perspectives on Homeric and Irish traditions on Thursday, 25 November at 5 p.m. in Room G.19, Faculty of Classics, Sidgwick Avenue. It will be open to all members of the University and others who are interested.

Gender Studies. The Multi-disciplinary Gender Research Seminar will be held from 12.30 p.m. to 1.30 p.m. on Monday, 8 November 2010 in the Large Lecture Theatre, Department of Plant Sciences, Downing Street. Ultra-Orthodox Jewish marriage: a study in modern kinship, by Dr David Lehmann, Department of Sociology. All welcome.

South Asian Studies. The Centre of South Asian Studies is organizing on 29 October 2010 a one-day conference on World history and digital scholarship to investigate the role played by digital humanities in the history curriculum, and in inter-disciplinary research projects. This conference will be held from 10 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. in the Adrian House, Burrell’s Field, Trinity College. The keynote speaker will be Professor Elizabeth Edwards (University of the Arts, London) and a plenary session will be led by Professor C. A. Bayly, Director of the Centre.
