Notice of benefactions

The Vice-Chancellor gives notice that he has received with gratitude the following benefactions:

(a) a benefaction of approximately £778,000 to date comprising donations to support research into the prevention, diagnosis, or treatment of children’s urological and related disorders

(b) a benefaction of £207,406 jointly from Mr Roland Tegeder and the Goldman Sachs Group Inc. in honour of Professor Peter Whittle, Emeritus Churchill Professor of Mathematics for Operational Research. The benefaction, of which both the income and the capital will be available, will be used to support advanced research in mathematics, particularly at the intersections between established mathematical research fields, and between mathematics and other sciences.

The Council is submitting Graces (Graces 1 and 2, p. 98) for the approval of regulations to govern the Children’s Kidney Care Fund and the Peter Whittle Fund.

Christmas and New Year closing: Notice

University Offices

The Council has authorized the closure of the University Offices from 5 p.m. on Friday, 24 December 2010, until 8 a.m. on Tuesday, 4 January 2011. The University Messenger Service will not operate during the period of closure.
