N. M. Rothschild & Sons Professorship of Mathematical Sciences and Directorship of the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences: Notice

Applications are invited for the N. M. Rothschild & Sons Professorship of Mathematical Sciences from senior academics working in some branch of the mathematical sciences to take up appointment on 1 October 2011.

The successful candidate will also be the Director of the Isaac Newton Institute, a national institute which promotes research of the highest international quality in the mathematical sciences for the benefit of the UK community, through major visitor programmes in selected, often interdisciplinary fields. The successful candidate will be a senior academic working in a branch of the mathematical sciences with appropriate administrative experience. The appointment will be for a fixed term of five years.

Clinical Lecturer NIHR-IAT in Haematology in the School of Clinical Medicine

This is a protected academic training post in a world class research environment. Applicants will be able to consolidate their research experience and complete their clinical training in the context of a first class haematology training rotation. Applicants should be medically qualified and hold an appropriate research qualification (Ph.D. or M.D. Degree or equivalent). The successful applicant will be of the standing required for an honorary contract of service with the NHS East of England as a Specialist Registrar in Haematology. The appointment will be for four years with the possibility of reappointment for a further two years. The pensionable salary will be in the range of £30,685 to £53,132 a year. Temporary Lectureship in Human Evolution in the Leverhulme Centre for Human Evolutionary Studies, Department of Biological Anthropology

Applications are invited for a Temporary Lectureship in Human Evolution. The post will be for one year, tenable from 1 October 2010. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the teaching of the undergraduate and graduate courses in human evolution, and to research activities.

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. Degree in the relevant field, have some experience of university teaching and research, and share an interest in multi-disciplinary approaches to human evolution.

The pensionable salary will be in the range of £36,715 to £46,510 a year.

Reporter Editor in the Secretariat, University Offices (maternity leave cover)

Applications are invited to cover the post of Reporter Editor in the Secretariat, University Offices, during the maternity leave of the Editor. It is expected that the successful applicant will be able to start on 27 September 2010 or as soon as possible after that date. The appointment will be until 26 September 2011 or until the current post-holder returns from leave, whichever is the earlier.

The duties of this post will include day-to-day editorial responsibility for weekly issues of the Reporter, management of the University Council and Secretariat web pages, and related editorial activities.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level. Good communication, organizational, and IT skills, including knowledge of web-editing, and the ability to work to tight deadlines are essential. Previous experience in university administration may be an advantage.

The pensionable salary will be in the range of £27,319 to £35,646 a year.
