Regulations For Examinations

The General Board give notice that, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board or other authority concerned, the regulations for certain University examinations have been amended as follows:

Historical Tripos

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 333)

With effect from 1 October 2010

The schemes of examination for Part I and Part II of the Historical Tripos have been amended as follows:

Part I

Regulation 13.

Section F

By replacing ‘Extra-European History’ in the title of Section F with ‘World History’.

Part II

Regulation 15.

Section E

By replacing ‘Extra-European History’ in the title of both Section E and Papers 28 and 29 with ‘World History’, in each occurrence, so as to read:

World History

Paper 28. A subject in world history specified by the Faculty Board from time to time.

Paper 29. A subject in world history specified by the Faculty Board from time to time.

SUPPLEMENTARY REGULATIONS

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 338)

The Faculty Board of History give notice of an amendment to the supplementary regulations for Part I and Part II of the Historical Tripos, with effect from the same date, as follows:

Part I

Paper 23. A subject in any aspect of history specified by the Faculty Board from time to time

By amending the detail so as to read:

This paper will, until further notice, be a paper entitled ‘World history since 1914’. The paper will explore the climax and decline of Europe’s older imperial systems during the first half of the twentieth century, the emergence of new forms of imperial power, and the making of the modern ‘postcolonial’ world in the context of world war and global economic shifts. Candidates will be required to answer three questions.

The Faculty Board are satisfied that no candidate’s preparation for the examination in 2011 will be adversely affected by this amendment.

Part II

The title of Paper 28 has been amended as follows:

From

A subject in extra-European history specified by the Faculty Board from time to time

to

A subject in world history specified by the Faculty Board from time to time

Preliminary Examination for Part I of the Historical Tripos

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 250)

With effect from 1 October 2010

The list of papers available in the Preliminary Examination for Part I of the Historical Tripos has been amended as follows:

Regulation 2.

By replacing ‘Extra-European History’ in the title of both Section E and Paper 19 with ‘World History’, in each occurrence, so as to read:

Section E

World History

Paper 19. World history, from 1400

SUPPLEMENTARY REGULATIONS

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 251)

By amending the title of Papers 2–19, with effect from the same date, from ‘British, European, and Extra-European history’ to ‘British, European, and world history’.
