Graces

Graces submitted to the Regent House on 10 February 2010

The Council submits the following Graces to the Regent House. These Graces, other than any which is withdrawn or for which a ballot is requested in accordance with the regulations for Graces of the Regent House (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 107), will be deemed to have been approved at 4 p.m. on Friday, 19 February 2010.

1. That Professor Sir John Baker, of St Catharine’s College, be appointed one of the Septemviri to serve for two years from 1 January 2010.

2. That Professor Dame Sandra Dawson, of Sidney Sussex College, be appointed one of the Septemviri to serve for two years from 1 January 2010.

3. That Professor Dame Jean Thomas, Master of St Catharine’s College, be appointed one of the Septemviri to serve for two years from 1 January 2010.

4. That, on the recommendation of the General Board, the period in which the General Board are required to act under Statute D, XV, 18(a)(i) in respect of the Frank Ramsey Professorship of Economics be extended until 1 May 2011 or until such earlier date as the Board shall determine after consultation with the Council of the School of the Humanities and Social Sciences and the Faculty Board of Economics.1

5. That, on the recommendation of the General Board, the Professorship of European Law be discontinued until 1 October 2013 or until such earlier date as the Board shall determine after consultation with the Council of the School of the Humanities and Social Sciences and the Faculty Board of Law.2

6. That the recommendations in paragraph 6 of the Report of the General Board, dated 6 January 2010, on the establishment of a Professorship of Ophthalmology (Reporter, 2009–10, p. 477) be approved.

7. That the recommendations in paragraph 4 of the Report of the General Board, dated 6 January 2010, on the re-establishment of the Professorship of Mathematical Sciences (Reporter, 2009–10, p. 477) be approved.

8. That the recommendations in paragraph 3 of the Report of the General Board, dated 6 January 2010, on the title of the Regius Professorship of Modern History (Reporter, 2009–10, p. 478) be approved.

9. That the recommendations in paragraph 6 of the Report of the General Board, dated 23 December 2009, on the establishment of a Sainsbury Laboratory and three Professorships within the Laboratory (Reporter, 2009–10, p. 490) be approved.

Graces submitted to the Senate on 10 February 2010

The Council submits the following Graces to the Senate. These Graces, other than any which is withdrawn or for which a ballot is requested in accordance with the regulations for Graces of the Senate (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 111), will be deemed to have been approved at 4 p.m. on Friday, 19 February 2010.

1. That Professor Elizabeth Helen Cooper, of Magdalene College, be appointed a member of the Nomination Board to serve for four years from 1 January 2010.1

2. That Professor Barry John Everitt, Master of Downing College, be appointed a member of the Nomination Board to serve for four years from 1 January 2010.1

3. That Dr Richard John Samworth, of St John’s College, be appointed a member of the Nomination Board to serve for four years from 1 January 2010.1
