Deputy Librarian in the University Library

Cambridge University Library is one of the world’s great research libraries. The Library is a major scholarly resource, not only for the University’s staff and students, but also nationally and internationally. It has been collecting books and manuscripts since the fourteenth century and now has one of the greatest and most accessible collections of books and manuscripts in the world. The Library serves over 40,000 registered users and has a strong commitment to exemplar services. More recently it has been responding proactively to the challenges of the digital environment.

The Library seeks to appoint an outstanding professional with vision and enthusiasm who will play a key role in achieving the University Library’s strategic aims and objectives in support of the University’s mission. The successful applicant will have experience of building effective relationships within an organization and beyond, influencing and implementing change, and formulating policy underpinning strategic priorities. The salary will be in the range of £65,981 to £76,491 a year.

University Lectureship in Applied and Computational Analysis in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics

Applications are invited for a University Lectureship in Applied and Computational Analysis to commence on 1 September 2010 or thereabouts. Appointment will be made at an appropriate point on the scale for University Lecturers (£36,532 to £46,278 a year) and will be for a probationary period of five years with appointment to the retiring age thereafter, subject to satisfactory performance.

A similar vacancy is advertised in the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics (see below, and at http://www.dpmms.cam.ac.uk/Vacancies/ULAnalysis.html). Both Lectureships will be associated with the newly created Cambridge Centre for Analysis which is a joint activity of the two Mathematics Departments. Applications for either Lectureship will automatically be considered for the other.

Fixed-term Lectureship in Industrial Sustainability in the Department of Engineering

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a fixed-term Lectureship in Industrial Sustainability.

Candidates should have a proven record of scholarship and research in the area of Industrial Sustainability, Technology Development, and Applications, and will be expected to contribute directly to the research and teaching of the Institute of Manufacturing. The Institute enjoys an international reputation for high quality, innovative, and industry-relevant research. In addition the post will involve contributing to the teaching of the undergraduate courses.

The successful candidate will take up the appointment as soon as possible. The salary will be in the range of £36,532 to £46,278 a year. The end date for funding for the post is 31 December 2013.
