Friends of Cambridge University Library

A meeting of the Friends of Cambridge University Library will be held on Saturday, 21 November, at 11.30 a.m., in the Morison Room, University Library, West Road, at which Professor David Nokes will give a talk entitled Samuel & Tetty Johnson. All are welcome. Friends and junior members of the University of Cambridge: free; others: £3.50.

Philosophical Society

On Monday, 23 November 2009, at 5.30 p.m., in the Bristol-Myers Squibb Lecture Theatre, Department of Chemistry, Lensfield Road, Dr Peter Forster, Director of Research, Institute of Forensic Genetics, University of Münster, Germany, will deliver a lecture entitled Tracing human ancestry using DNA. All who are interested are invited.

At a meeting held on 9 November 2009 in the Bristol-Myers Squibb Lecture Theatre, Professor A. W. Cuthbert, President, was in the Chair.

Professor Brian C. J. Moore, FMedSci, FRS, Professor of Auditory Perception, Department of Experimental Psychology, delivered a lecture entitled Hearing loss and hearing aids. A vote of thanks was moved by Professor J. D. Mollon.

Theological Society

The Society will meet on Thursday, 19 November, at 5 p.m., to hear a lecture entitled Jewish-Muslim dialogue in light of Jewish-Christian relations, by Dr Edward Kessler (Founder and Executive Director, the Woolf Institute of Abrahamic Faiths). The meeting will be held in the Walters Room, Selwyn College, where refreshments will be served from 4.45 p.m.
