regulations for examinations

The General Board give notice that, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board or other authority concerned, the regulations for certain University examinations have been amended as follows:

Examination in Conservation Leadership for the degree of Master of Philosophy

On the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Earth Sciences and Geography, the General Board and the Board of Graduate Studies have approved Conservation Leadership as a subject for advanced study for the M.Phil. Degree (one-year course), with effect from 1 October 2010. The course will be taught jointly with leading conservation organizations to provide practice-based and professional guidance and support during the Easter Term placement. Special regulations for the examination in the subject have been approved as follows:

Conservation Leadership

The scheme of examination for the one-year course of study in Conservation Leadership for the degree of Master of Philosophy shall consist of:
(a) four submitted essays, each of 4,000 words in length, or alternative exercises on a subject chosen by the candidate from a list of subjects announced by the Degree Committee for the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Geography, which shall be concerned with topics in conservation leadership;
(b) a placement report of not more than 10,000 words in length, on a topic approved by the Degree Committee, and based on work carried out by the candidate in one or more institutions approved by the Degree Committee;
(c) course-work prescribed by the Degree Committee (which may include written work, group work and class participation).
