Churchill College

RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS IN EARLY MODERN EUROPEAN HISTORY AND IN EARTH SCIENCES

Applications are invited for: (1) a Research Fellowship in Early Modern European History, and (2): a Research Fellowship in Earth Sciences, both to be held at Churchill College. The Fellowships are open to graduates of any university, with no age limit, but will normally be awarded to candidates who will have submitted their doctoral thesis by the commencement of the Fellowship. Candidates are warned that competition is likely to be intense.

The salary will be £23,222 a year if post-Ph.D. If pre-Ph.D., the stipend is reduced by 10 per cent. The tenure of the posts is three years, and the start date will be 1 October 2009, or as soon as possible thereafter.

Candidates should submit a curriculum vitae, a list of publications, and the names, professional positions, and email addresses of two referees, by 1 August 2009. All application materials should be sent by email (attachment or pdf file) to Mrs Sharon Knight at: research.fellowships@chu.cam.ac.uk.

Shortlisting will take place on 6 August, and the College will ask referees of shortlisted candidates to write on their behalf by 12 August. If any referees are likely to be out of email contact in the period 6-12 August, candidates are asked to instruct them to send references directly to Mrs Knight, at the email address provided, at any point before that.
