Two University Lectureships in the Faculty of History

The Faculty of History is seeking to make one appointment in each of the following fields with effect from 1 October 2010 at the latest: African History, and World and/or Imperial History since 1500.

The salary will be in the range of £36,532 to £46,278 a year.

University Lecturer / University Senior Lecturer in Small Animal Surgery in the Department of Veterinary Medicine

The Department of Veterinary Medicine requires an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join the University Surgeon, University Lecturers, staff surgeon, and Senior Clinical Training Scholars (Residents) of the surgical team of the Queen's Veterinary School Hospital. The post-holder will be responsible with other academic staff for the teaching of small animal surgery to undergraduates, for training clinical training scholars, and providing small animal surgery services to the Queen's Veterinary School Hospital, including out-of-hours emergency work. The successful applicant will be expected to develop a research programme in an appropriate area of interest.

Candidates must be members of the RCVS or hold a degree qualifying them for membership, have experience in the area of small animal surgery, and have demonstrated ability in clinical research in small animal surgery. A European or RCVS Diploma in Small Animal Surgery, a Ph.D. or doctoral level degree in a related area, a proven track record in research, and documented undergraduate teaching experience are desirable.

The salary will be on either the University Lecturer scale (£36,532 to £46,278 a year) or the University Senior Lecturer scale (£49,096 to £52,086 a year).
