STIPENDIARY LECTURERSHIP IN ECONOMICS

Applications are invited for the post of Stipendiary Lecturer in Economics for a fixed term of five years from 1 October 2009. The Lecturer will be required to provide undergraduate teaching for all years of the Philosophy, Politics, and Economics course and the Economics and Management course; to participate in admissions procedures; and to share the administration of Economics teaching within the College.

The salary will be within the scale £12,076 to £13,592 a year, with Senior Common Room membership and meals free of charge. The closing date for applications is 22 June 2009 (see below for further details).

COLLEGE LECTURERSHIP IN MODERN HISTORY SINCE 1700

Applications are invited for a two-year College Lecturership in Modern History since 1700. Applicants should have submitted, or be close to submitting, a doctoral dissertation in this subject. This position will be suitable for a scholar seeking to gain experience in undergraduate teaching and research.

The successful applicant will be expected to teach an average of six hours of tutorials and classes each week during term, across all years of the course, and to take a role in undergraduate admissions in History and in the direction of undergraduate studies.

Applicants should be competent to teach aspects of modern history in the period since 1700. Specialists in European, British or American history will be considered. The appointee will be expected to teach papers in one or more of these subjects to undergraduates studying for first year examinations (Prelims) and for the Final Honour School in History. He or she will also assist in the teaching of historiography and historical methods for the 'Approaches to History' paper (1st year) and the 'Disciplines of History' paper (3rd year).
