Announcement of lectures, seminars, etc.

The following lectures, seminars, etc. will be open to members of the University and others who are interested:

Mongolia and Inner Asia Studies Unit. The seminar by Giovanni da Col, of the Mongolia and Inner Asia Studies Unit, entitled Tibetan gay sciences and other technologies of the sense: humour and artful bullshitting in Yunnan's Shangri-la, which was due to take place on 19 May (see Reporter, p. 636), has been re-scheduled. The seminar will now take place at 4.30 p.m. on Tuesday, 26 May, in the Mond Building Seminar Room, Free School Lane.

Sociology. A public lecture by Professor Michael Mann, Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Sociology, entitled The end of American Empire?, will take place at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, 20 May, in the Maxwell Lecture Theatre, Faculty of Politics, Psychology, Sociology, and International Studies, Free School Lane.

Centre of South Asian Studies. The annual Kingsley Martin Memorial Lecture, entitled Muslim Zion: Jinnah and the making of Pakistan, will be delivered by Professor Faisal Devji, of New School University, New York, at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, 27 May, in the Winstanley Lecture Theatre, Trinity College. A reception will be held after the lecture.
